By Ethan Hedman

Breckenridge is one of the most breathtaking places in the world and we are going to share the top 3 places near Breckenridge to leaf peep and enjoy lunch. People come from across the globe to ski, hike, and spend time outdoors with those they love! With autumn ready to roll in, things begin to change – football, colder weather, and the leaves start turning color. Because of its high altitude, Breckenridge is one of the earliest locations where this happens. This annual event is always popular with people who live here and visitors alike, but all who participate are in for an adventure. Moreover, we here at Mount Golian Grill want to help make sure you have the energy and delicious taste you need to do some leaf peeping in Breckenridge.

Leaf peeping aspen trees in Colorado in the fall

Leaf Peeping in French Gulf Area

First, one of the best places, not only near Breckenridge but in all the United States, to leaf peep is near the French Gulf area. This area, located to the east of Breckenridge, is packed with hikes for folks of all skill levels. The Minnie Mine loop is an easier hike that will take you on a tour of the Golden Horseshoe area which is filled with views of mining sites, aspen trees, and views of the 10-mile trail area. Only 1.6 miles, this loop is perfect for folks who just want a taste of adventure and are able to make it back to town for a satisfying meal after hitting the trail. We recommend something savory to replenish you after an early afternoon excursion – steak, rice, veggies of your choice, all topped off with our Mongolian BBQ.

Boreas Pass Area

Next, much of the Boreas Pass area was burned down around 100 years ago in a wildfire, making way for an abundance of aspen trees. These are some of the most stunning trees to view when the fall season rolls around. This moderate level excursion, to the top of the continental divide and over 11,000 feet. Whether on foot, bike, or heading up in a car, you’ll need a solid meal to take on your way to leaf peeping the Boreas Pass area. Then, we recommend a bowl that will give you the energy boost you need to not only get to the top, but to enjoy the views while you’re up there. Our bowls are meant to inspire and fuel you during your Breckenridge adventure. This should give you the kick you need to spend all afternoon out there watching the leaves change color.
